Date: Sunday, November 29, 2026
Venue: EcoTeatro Milano
Time: 4:00 PM
On the occasion of the week commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, our Academy is hosting an important moment of reflection, awareness, and panel discussion ahead of the performance of Carmen.
Because the opera addresses femicide and female liberation in a powerful and direct manner, we felt it was essential to expand the discussion beyond the stage. Our goal is to engage with citizens and younger generations on the importance of prevention, highlighting the concrete actions and resources active throughout Milan and beyond.
Panel Discussion & Guest Speakers
The panel will feature prominent organizations and expert voices:

Director's Note: Davide Iacobone
Closing the session will be Davide Iacobone, creator and choreographer of the performance, as well as dancer and artistic director of Formazione TAM.
In his director's notes, Iacobone describes the urgency behind this production:
When I began working on this version of Carmen, I knew I couldn't simply stage a classic from the past. I knew I had something larger in my hands: an uncomfortable yet necessary mirror of our time. Today, telling Carmen's story inevitably means confronting an open, bleeding wound in our society: femicide.
Our Carmen is the victim of a system that still judges, blames, and punishes women who choose, who dare to say 'no,' and who reclaim their freedom.
This production was born with a clear purpose: to shake consciousness, especially among younger generations. We must educate youth to recognize the shadows of control disguised as love and dismantle the gender roles that continue to imprison and kill.
The stage transforms into a courtroom—a space for political and social reflection. But above all, my goal was to generate deep female pride and empower young women: it is only through awareness and sisterhood that we can spark the revolution needed to truly change things."
